  • T-Shirt: Buy a large t-shirt in a color of your choice. This will serve as the tote. Neutrals work well since there will be a lot of color on the front of the tote. Cotton works best.
  • Fabric Glue: Visit your local craft store for fabric glue. Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Adhesive is a great option.
  • Rhinestones: Buy in bulk. You should be able to find large packs of rhinestones in many colors and sizes at your local craft store.
  • Sewing Machine: If you don’t have experience working on a sewing machine, you can use a needle and thread.
  • Scissors: Scissors should be sharp enough to cut the t-shirt fabric.
  • Wax Paper: This is a must to ensure that your kids don’t end up gluing your tote shut!
  • Masking Tape: For measuring out the Candy Crush grid.

Once you’ve arranged your materials and prepared your crafting space, the first step is to spread your t-shirt out flat. Measure and mark the lines on the t-shirt in the shape of a tank top before cutting them out. Older kids may complete this step on their own, so long as the lines are drawn symmetrical. The shape of the tote is formed by cutting off the sleeves and the neck. The shoulder straps form the handles of the tote, but they should be at least three inches thick. Sew together the bottom of the bag at the hem of the t-shirt. The stitch should be very tight since the tote will be used to carry things. Your kids can complete this step if they know how to sew. If not use a sewing machine. Next, rip off a piece of wax paper the size of the bag and place it between the sides of the bag. Tape a large rectangular area on the front of the bag. This will form the grid for the rhinestones. Have your kids arrange the rhinestones in rows, making sure to group together similar rhinestones in some areas just like in the actual game. When all of the rhinestones are in place, your kids can use the fabric glue to fix them there. A dab on the back of each rhinestone will do. Finally, remove the masking tape. When the glue has dried, remove the wax paper and your child will have her brand new tote!
